This business is an exciting and innovative new player in the Scottish whisky industry. Founded in 2017 and based in Inverkip, Scotland, they are on a mission to create exceptional spirits that honor Scotland's rich whisky heritage while embracing modern techniques and flavors. Their ambitious plans include a state-of-the-art distillery currently under construction, set to become a landmark destination for whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
As they prepare to commence commissioning of the new distillery, they are seeking a talented Lead Distiller to join their dynamic team. You will report to their Distillery Manager and feature in a strong supporting role. In this role you will have responsibility for ensuring that all specifications and quality standards set are maintained in accordance with the production schedules agreed. You will manage staff and facilities involved in the production, warehousing and administration in the absence of the Distillery Manager and to provide brand ambassadorial services as may be required by the Company.
Distillery Operations
- Have a sound working knowledge and hands-on experience of distillery operations and a good appreciation of attaining maximum quality standards at each stage of the process
- Be able to objectively assess the balance between operational cost, output and quality and make sound operational judgements as a result
- Have a background in leading a team within a production/manufacturing environment
- Be able to report against KPIs and critical parameters in a timely, clear and concise way
- Objectively assess dynamic situations to predict and prevent operational issues where possible
- Recognise and understand the importance of H&S across the site, putting a constant and conscious focus on maintaining safe operations
- Demonstrate positive leadership, integrity and a natural talent for engaging with team members and stakeholders at all levels in a variety of situations
- Be able to contribute to, and lead with, a culture of transparency, respect and safe working at all levels
Events and customers
- Provide sales support at promotional events/trade shows/exhibitions
- Promote and organise distillery visits and events
- Organise and distribute product samples
- Work with local community/ area to promote the Brand including working with local partners
You will have:
- Experience in the brewing, distilling, or related sector
- Ability to prepare and manage distillery budgets
- Proficient in use of various Microsoft Office and other computer software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with HMRC regulations and bonded premises operations
- Ability to communicate and collaborate across the company’s teams and ability to excite customers
